WOMEN'S JEANS : Grrr. This is why women can never go into a store and just buy a pairof jeans. Every single fucking clothing manufacturer has their owndefinition of size 10 [1]. You have to try everything on, and inmultiple sizes, to ensure that it fits right. And then we have theclothing manufacturers who can't decide what size 10 means on theirdifferent lines. Yes, that's right, you can buy two different pairsof jeans from the same manufacturer and have to get different sizes. And when you finally do find the exact pair of jeans you like, and youthink you've got the size figured out, you come back to buy them acouple of months later and find out that either (a) they'vediscontinued that brand of jeans or (b) size 10 is no longer size 10,it's now size 8.Men, on the other hand, generally have it easier. They know theirinseam and waist measurements. They know their collar. I can runinto a store and buy Rich a dress shirt if he needs one. On the otherhand, I have absolutely forbidden him to buy me any clothing -- it'sguaranteed to be the wrong size unless I spend 22 minutes in thedressing room trying on every single size.

WOMEN'S JEANS : The only thing that's easy(ish) for women to buy is a bra. 40D has apretty straightforward meaning, and the bra manufacturers aren'tfucking with it yet. But they're fucking with panties -- explain tome why I wear a size 18 dress but a size 7 panty? Oh, and while I'm here and bitching... why the hell is women'sclothing generally of lower quality? Compare women's cotton underwearto men's cotton underwear. Unless you spend an arm and a leg for thepanties, they're made of the cheapest cotton available -- thin enoughto see through. Men's underwear, on the other hand, is both cheap andmade of thick cotton. My women's jeans wear out faster than the men'sjeans I own [2] -- even though they're from the same manufacturer!Women's flannel shirts are generally expensive, and they're almostalways thinner. And on and on and on.[2] I do wear men's jeans. They're generally cheaper than women's jeans, and last longer.

WOMEN'S JEANS : Black Levi 501`s. Nothing fancy, I wear them in myself.I got used to the Black when I was a Monk and I switched from the blue.Trouble is, I have to wear one pair on each leg. I'm a tad heavierthese days. Nope. Growing up, I mostly wore hand-me-downs from my cousin, usuallyLevi's or Lees. The few new pairs that my mom bought me were alsoeither Levi's or Lees. When I was younger, she usually bought my jeansin the boys department 'cause they were better made. But when I hit myteens, and my body started getting curves, she bought everything in thewomen's department. She wore hand-me-downs from her older brothers growing up, and she hatedthem. "They never fit right!"Nevermind that we aren't shaped exactly alike, and nevermind that, untilthe advent of pleated jeans, by the time I found a pair of women's jeansthat fit my butt, the waist was at least 6 inches too big, while men'sjeans usually fit rather well. (And I don't *even* want to know thereasoning behind that; it's just too distressing to contemplate the ideathat women's jeans were designed for people with little differencebetween waist and hip measurements, while men's jeans were designed tofit someone with big hips and a (relatively) tiny waist.)

WOMEN'S JEANS : "I am NOT a man, nor am I a fairie! I, Madame, am an ELF! We are onlyslightly RELATED to fairies!"--Jimi Greydog--1965----"I am no rocket scientist. My 'Blonde moments' last all day long!"--Stormy--=================== ======================================== =="Reduce the body count: don't KILL anyone today!" -- Jim Carroll --====================================== ===============================I must have had a 29" waist at some point in my life, but I don't rememberwhen that was. Even at 18 I was already at a 34" waist. I get women'sjeans because I have a rather generous butt and it doesn't fit into men'sjeans (which assume you have no butt at all). There is about a 9"difference between my waist and butt measurement right now, so women's jeansfit just about perfect.I had a 29 inch waist until I was 45.. it didn't make a lot of difference in theway I feel but it sure made a difference in what i could wear, when it expandedand how I looked...and it made a big difference in how I got treated 'en femme'..So I almost totally went back in the closet.. except here in cyberspace...--"I am no rocket scientist. My 'Blonde moments' last all day long!"--Stormy--=================== ======================================== =="Reduce the body count: don't KILL anyone today!" -- Jim Carroll --====================================== ===============================

WOMEN'S JEANS : "I need some help here," Star says, shifting uncomfortably in herchair. "You see, out in the Real World, I'm a woman with a thirty-sixinch inseam--something that most clothing companies seem to think doesnot exist. A couple of years ago my mother actually found jeans thatwere long enough for me, but now they're beginning to fray around theedges and I need new ones. The problem? The place she got them fromno longer carries my preferred style in what they call 'Ultra-Tall'"She grimaces; the term makes her feel like a giantess of some sort."In fact, they carry exactly one style of jeans in that size range, and it's really not one I care for.""So--I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get good-qualitywomen's jeans with a 36 inch inseam, preferably not too expensive, andpreferably in stretch denim. The previous pair was St. John's Bay, Ithink, if that helps to tell anyone what I'm looking for." She sitsback and hopes for answers, looking worried and a little depressed...
