MY JEANS : 130? That's a lofty goal! Many of us have the desire to get bigger andstronger, but if you're over about age 21, its not really feasible togain that much weight unless:1) You eat so many french fries and onion rings that you're too fat totie your skates.2) You dose yourself so full of stanozolol (i.e. steroids) that yourmuscles explode (unfortunately, you'd probably die from heart failurebefore this would actually happen, and I certainly don't condonesubstance use/abuse).If you're past puberty, your 96 pounds indicates a small frame. I don'tmean to disappoint you, but small-framed people just can't grow (musclemass) like that :) In article Barry Publow writes:I'm 30, but was told by doctors and nutritionists that 130 is not only afeasible weight, but a necessary one for my 5'4" height and musclestructure. Much of the weight I need to gain is actually fat, becausethat's necessary to protect my bones (as in hormones...)

MY JEANS : I agree that under normal circumstances, so much weight gain would beimpossible - but mine is not yet a normal body.I'm still recovering from the neglect and malnutrition I was subjected towhile growing up. I've gone from 84 pounds to 96 by eating as much healthyfood as I can and drinking Ensure and similar stuff. I do weights to makesure some of the weight turns to muscle and to encourage the fat I do needto gain to go to the right places ;-)Even if i don't quite reach 130, i still need to gain a significant amountof weight.BTW i didn't hit puberty until my mid 20's, so normal estimates may notapply anyway. I didn't stop growing until age 28. (though i didn't grow aninch between ages 10 and 16).As far as the jeans go, Levis' Silver Tab are the way to go. They havelots of room in the thighs and butt and give a nice snug fit in the waist. As far as body weight goes, I think it is perfectly reasonable for youto hit 130 lbs. and maintain an athletic build. It won't happen overnight, unless you go the 'roid route, and as Barry said you'll probably diefirst. Check out some of the natural bodybuilding magazines & websites, I'm sure you'll see lots of 5'4" women at that kind of mass (off-season,

MY JEANS : anyway, before they diet and dehydrate for the contests). It will takesignificant dedication to both bodybuilding-style lifting and nutrition, but if that's what you want then so be it.Personally I've started to wane off the body composition strategy in favor ofsport-specific skills and strengths. This epiphany came in part whenI did my first ever triathlon (small local event, not an Ironman!!), thewinners (overall & in age) didn't impress me as particularly "athleticlooking," and with me back in the pack were 250 lbs solid Marines,200 lb women with plenty of body fat, and everything in between.I don't think you could accurately guess anyone's finishing time fromtheir body size or composition.________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________Annette look at Jeff Foster. He won the master oudoor 300 meter timetrial and is the current master indoor national champion. Now he is thelargest skater I know well over 200 lbs. @6'2". So go for it.KenIroncially I heard an ad on the radio this morning for St. Joseph'seating disorder program, in which you hear a woman talkingabout a variety of situations and thinking "I'm Better." Thenshe is described as a 5'4", 123 pounder with a former anorexia/bulimia problem (the previous ad had her thinking "I'm Fat"in every situation). So sounds like you're right in the ballpark.

MY JEANS : Incidentally, I was curious about the suggestions that weremade that there's some place you can look up what yourmaximum weight can be? I didn't think there was any limiton how big people could get, or even how much musclemass they could gain. If that were so, then speed, strengthand fitness records wouldn't keep getting broken. Thereare plenty of sports in which size & strength are very importantfactors (though I think in speedskating, technique and fitnessmight be more important).________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________There are limits to how much muscle mass can be gained. I have been acertified personal fitness trainer for 10 years. I've seen people workoutfor hours a day almost everyday religiously. Yet these people are notmuscle bound giants. I was a competitive body builder for several years. Itried as hard as I could -and I gain muscle faster than average- and Icouldn't get my weight over 202lbs. I'm 5'7". I was eating at close to5000 calories per day. My body fat was about 13% and I couldn't gain anymore weight. My point is that everyone is different but there are limits asto how much muscle mass you can add to your frame. Genetics is heavilyinvolved. I'm not telling Annette she can't reach 130 lbs, I'm just sayingit would be very difficult without adding a significant amount of fat to doit. What would the point be? Another thing, there is not a directcorrelation between muscle size and strength. So adding size to becomestronger for skating isn't the best way to go. The extra weight would justbe a detriment. I've rambled enough. That's it for now.

MY JEANS : Anybody else lost a few good pairs of jeans when they climb in, and theirJeep yanks on the left back pocket and rips a big hole in the ass? I knowothers who've had the damn catch grab em and had the same problem. Is thisa YJ only phenomenom? ( And no I'm not fat- 6'2" , 180#)Just wanted to take a quick survey. It's not a YJ phenomenon, just a *clumsy* phenomenon. I've donesomething similar on my XJ door latch. ;-)skruiz wrote:Oh, so that's why TJs have a bar instead of a post!"skruiz" wrote:Getting out of a CJ5 has the same problem. Torn pocket regularly. im 6'2" 200 89 yj and have lost about 3 pairs o levi's! James Gemmill wrote in article ...Maybe you guys should all sell your Jeeps and by a Lexus with soft cushyseats.. :)I'm having the same problem. I was at a gas station, wearing looseshorts. When i got in my jeep, the latch damn near pulled my shortshalf-way down my thighs.
