MISS SIXTY JEANS : Du kennst Miss Sixty, ja?!? Trend.

MISS SIXTY JEANS : Hi. For my own curiosity, I wanted to take a survey of those who liketo wear flared or bellbottom jeans. Here are the questions:3) What's the widest flare (in inches) that you've dared to wear?4) What do you wear with your flared jeans, i.e., what kind of shoes, what kind of shirt?do wide legs count as flare?? if so i have worn 44"...hehe!! Thanks for your response. I know that there are more of you out there. This is an opportunity for us to compare notes on different brands andstyles of flared jeans. So I would love to hear from you.1) I have several pairs of Mudd flares, as well as L.E.I., Miss Sixty,Edwin Lowrise Bootcut, and an old pair of Paris Blues (with a laceupfront).2) My favorite is the Miss Sixty: soft stonewashed denim, snug fit,not particularly wide flare. I like to wear flared jeans that are verytight to the knee.3) I actually have a pair of Mudd bellbottoms with a 40" opening at thebottom. I wear them when I feel like being particularly outrageous.

MISS SIXTY JEANS : 4) I always wear platforms (at least a four-inch heel)or high heelswith my flared jeans, and the jeans are long enough that they coverpart of the heel (making me look taller than my usual 5'5"). I usuallywear a midriff shirt (when it's warm enough) or some other kind ofshirt or sweater cut short enough to reveal some skin above the waistof my jeans. NoraWell, I did the flared-legged thing back in the early 70's and when I see thepictures of me I cringe. No way will I do that stupid crap again. I've alwaysthought that straighted legged jeans looked much sexier than flared legged. They show off a figure better and make you look slimmer. But hey, I've neverbeen much of one to follow the latest trends in clothes - just give me my CKjeans and a sweater and I'm ready to go!I understand that there are many women who do not like the look offlared jeans, which of course is perfectly fine. But I think that fora woman with a certain type of figure (slim, narrow hips; longish, thinlegs, like myself), snug-fitting flared jeans can be very flatteringand even quite sexy, and can make you look taller if worn long withplatforms or high heels (if the flare is wide enough to cover yourfeet). It is a younger woman's style (I'm 24) and for those who worethem in the seventies, it may not be a great look. I also think thatsome of the flared jeans being made these days are more stylish andclassy than many of those made in the seventies (from what I can tellfrom movies from then or the stuff I see in vintage clothing stores).

MISS SIXTY JEANS : But those of you who like to wear flared jeans, please respond to thesurvey. Thanks. Ditto. I don't like tapered or flared legs, and will stick with straight-legno matter what the current fad is.Yeah; I remember when "tight" jeans started to mean that if your calfmuscles were in the least bit developed, you couldn't get your legs allthe way into them. I thought that was useless, and am glad to see thereturn of the looser-fit pants. kayperI'm not currently a fan of really flared jeans but here goes:3) When bellbottoms first came back into style around six or sevenyears ago, I bought a pair that had maybe a 24" flare. They were kindof cute, but I didn't wear them too often.4) With my Edwins, I'll wear Steve Madden platform sandals, or sandalsor mules with a two-inch heel. Shirts: silk blouses or tees.I wear Express flares and bootlegs, Mudd flares and bellbottoms, triedL.E.I.--do not fit right. I hope to try VS London jean bootlegs soon (2 for $30special in clearance catalog. Anyone have opinions on this brand?)

MISS SIXTY JEANS : All mentioned above, but I really love Express' bootlegs as they fit my hipsand shape better. (ectomorph, with 32 and a half inch hips.) I just wish theirclothing was sized correctly, as there, I'm a 1, but everywhere else, I'm a 3or 5. That and if they were sized correctly, I'd be able to get the size below, which would eliminate a need for belts. (My biggest gripe.) They would *fit.*Mudd's 36 inch stretch bellbottoms; bought at JCPenney. Tend to wear with aturtleneck and blazer; looks polished and clean.Anything goes with regular flares, but my tendency for clothes is to alwayswear some sort of fitted black blazer as part of my outfit. Also, I tend towear jeans mostly in the cooler months, so I wear turtlenecks, button up shirtswith collars, along with a blazer, since I tend to freeze no matter thetemperature, hence a need for layers. For shoes, I prefer wearing somethingwith a little bit of a clunky heel, like a pair of "combat" style boots. Or Ihave shoe boots with a two inch shaped heel, or a pair of "penny loafers" witha little bit of a clunky heel. All are black and "leather"/leather. I neverwear platforms...just clunkier heels.
