LUCKY JEANS : I've decided that I've been spending way too much on cosmetics andfragrances lately, and that I need to cut back. So, I'm officiallycutting myself off from all makeup and fragrance expenditures for themonth of April. I should probably add clothing to that list, but I'mnot feeling strong enough to do that! If I succeed, I will rewardmyself with a bottle of CSP Les Enfants de Soleil from Beautycafe onMay 1st.Is anyone else doing an April Shopping Moratorium? I could use thesupport!I am - I discovered a few designer discount clothing stores in LA in earlyMarch and blew a few spontaneous $$$ and then wen to Vin Baker for thepurchases I have planned for several months and blew several more $$$. Andmy husband's birthday is next week, so I have to spend on him and save forthe rest of the (next several) month (s)(Designer discount stores - Half-Off, on Larchmont and Vermont, and DNA inVenice. E-mail me for more info - I am a very particular shopper.)
LUCKY JEANS : I don't indulge very often and am not the makeup junkie that many here are.I have my basics for clothes and cosmetics (both high and low end) that Istick with and work for me day-to-day, but once or twice a year I just comeacross a few great new finds (unique boutiquey clothing andmake-up/hair/body stuff) that really work for me to spice up mysemi-corporate/semi-bland Gap/J Crew/BR wardrobe and I can't resist when Ifind several things that look good on the hanger and on me - can anyone? When its the perfect piece to balance your wardrobe, fits perfect, color isright and the price is reasonable or even inexpensive - how can you justifynot buying it?Ok Jen!! Fess up! where are these great places and what labels??You are going to come to the makeup artist convention aren't you??;-)))))Stevie"Marsan/McKinney& quot; wrote in message...On Sat, 30 Mar 2002 05:27:03 -0800, "Stevie" wrote: LUCKY JEANS : Yes, please tell. I have my notepad and pencil ready for notes.During the past week so many have mentioned great sites and I have toomany posts saved so I decided to transfer them my old fashioned way, keeping an alt.fashion notebook for ideas.AudreyHalf-Off - on Vermont/Hollywood in the heard of Los Feliz, and onLarchmont/Melrose. Men's & Women's stuff - lots of Lucky Jeans & Luckyapparel ( jackets, skirts, tanks) print stretchy summery dresses & skirts, and some really nice formal/evening dresses.DNA on Rose Ave in Venice, in between Main St. and Lincoln Blvd, on thenorth side in a funky little house. Again - Lucky Jeans/skirts/jackets,cute blouses, suede & leather, funky skirts. I got a black stretchy mockwrap lace blouse by CC Outlaw (?) and a great fitting pair of shadow stripedblack pants by Liquid (?). I never heard of either label - got each forabout $40-50. I think at both of the above stores the Lucky stuff was inthe $40 range. All of the above are sort of hit-or-miss - you never knowwhat you will find. LUCKY JEANS : And Vin Baker is on 4th Street - next to the Promenade. It's not cheap, buthas beautiful shoes, bags, apparel and lots of Custo t-shirts. If you cancatch a sale, the prices are manageable. I just got a pair of high-heeledlace up boots (very bolero/gypsy/bohemian yet classic) marked down to $99from $250 - and they zip up the back so you don't have to unlace them!Didn't we hit Vin Baker last August?and btw.... can you make it to the MA trade show??;'-)Stevie"Marsan/McKinney&qu ot; wrote in message...Yes, there will be a moratorium of sorts for anindefinite period of time, at least until my DH'sjob becomes a little more secure (which could bequite a wait.) I had mentioned a few things inthe April wishlist, but they will probably do justas well on a May or June wishlist. I know I'll buythe Origins item, as I have a GC there and it won'tcost any more than the spare change at the bottomof my purse and weighing it down. kayper LUCKY JEANS : KarlaI will try to give support if replacing skincare cleansers doesn'tcount. Also I am going out of town next week and was told I shouldn'tmiss the Cabazon outlets near Palm Springs. I can already see thiswon't work since I do need to replace a few basics. I will try to notbuy any fragrances or cosmetics. My makeup box runneth over withproducts I've barely used. I will instead make an attempt to use themany samples I've received this spring. I also will not make anyhandbag, shoe or extravagant clothing purchases unless there is trulysomething outstanding and discounted that I should not pass up.I admit I'm not much help.AudreyI also feel the need to ban myself from shopping all together....other thennecessities. I have spent entirely too much money online this month. Thishas got to stop. I will ban myself from ebay and any online store. I willban myself from the malls and major dept. stores..........I can do it!maybe
